GROWTH - what does it LOOK like, FEEL like and SOUND like!

Often during the last month of the year people and companies are focused on clarifying what they aspire to achieve during the next year.

I’m sure you’ve done this for your team and your manager has done this for you.

It has been laid out in front of everyone where you’re going and now it’s time for you to figure out the “HOW you’re going to get there part.”  Corporate growth is expected.

Let’s change it up and focus on your growth instead!

What does personal growth look like to you?

What does personal growth feel like to you?

What does personal growth sound like to you?

Some of your personal growth goals may benefit the company, while others may benefit your family, friends and community.

It’s so easy to stay at our current level of growth because it is comfortable.  We KNOW how we look, feel and sound.

BUT, we become stale, our message becomes stale, we sound like a broken record and it becomes boring. People tune us out, lose interest and simply ignore us.

I am Amma to 5 delightful little beans and they continue to amaze me with their growth, physical and mental, their curiosity and quest for knowledge and information. Curiosity propels them to learn, understand and master in the face of adversity. Trying something new helps them expand their world. Yes, they have lots of “failure”, but they don’t look on that as negative. How many times did they fall down before they mastered walking?  How many times did they push through frustration? How many times did they overcome their fear? MANY, MANY.  It is absolutely amazing how much little people learn everyday as they explore their world.

We need to become curious again.  What if?  Maybe I should try? We need to embrace “failure” as a positive learning experience.  We need to push through frustration. We need to overcome fear.

We need to fertilize our life!

Give it a revitalizing boost.

Infuse it with nutrients that spark creativity, passion, vision and clarity.

Take some time and map out how you are going to grow in 2019.

Describe how it’s going to look, feel and sound.  Be specific.

Have fun dreaming about what could be.

And, as Dr Seuss says “Oh the places you’ll go…”!
